About Nicole Hogan
I am a creative soul and I love what I do.
Throughout my life, I have always had a thirst for entrepreneurship and creativity.
After high school, I ventured from my small New Hampshire town to Indiana State University (ISU) in Terre Haute, IN. At ISU, I found my calling: Marketing. The very first day of my very first marketing class, "Consumer Behavior," I was hooked.
After graduating with honors from Indiana State University, in 2005, with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Marketing, my professional experience began at CBS Radio in Detroit. I worked with arts and cultural organizations to help them market their plays, exhibits, shows, and events. My clients ranged from tiny playhouses to the prestigious Detroit Symphony Orchestra, but it was the community connection part of the job I found most fulfilling. Looking back, there is nothing better than marketing a sold-out show at a small community theater.
As my role at CBS evolved, I had this idea that moving up in my career meant working with bigger and bigger clients. So, I decided to pursue the agency setting. I took a position at Big Communications, a pharmaceutical marketing agency in Southeast Michigan. The clients were as big as they get: high profile pharmaceutical companies. I learned a lot about managing clients, a lot about process, and a lot about design, but I really missed that personal, hands-on approach. Driving out to visit a business, meeting a client face-to-face, and working with them collaboratively to bring their goals to life through strategic thinking and creative design. Yes, that's what I love about marketing!
In 2009, I took a leap of faith and started Creative Marketing Guru (CMG). I wanted to pursue my true passion: small business and non-profit marketing. CMG is based on the idea that all small businesses need professional marketing and design services; however, they may not have resources to support this position in-house, and a large retainer for an advertising agency is costly. Working with Creative Marketing Guru gives organizations the opportunity to obtain professional marketing and graphic design services, even if it's a project by project basis. And the best part is: I am a lot of fun to work with.
In 2018, Creative Marketing Guru will celebrates it's 9th birthday. Yay CMG! These days, the Creative Marketing Guru schedule is filled with projects that focus on branding, identity and graphic design. The process of building a brand from the ground up and carrying it through to the perfect target audience is incredibly fulfilling. I've had the opportunity to work with many wonderful people and amazing organizations. At the end of the day, I love being able to pursue my passion and feel as though I am making a difference in the world.
